ACW Rules
BROWN
WATER
NAVIES
A fun easy to learn game.
The first chapter is the game. It covers all
aspects of naval warfare during the American
Civil War. Ramming, mines, subs are also
covered. The game is historical with one
slight twist. It was written for what the ships
were designed to do, not what they actually
did. In this light two very powerful and equal
fleets set sail. The players are the difference
that decides the outcome.                 $14.95
The other chapters provide historical data to
enrich the game. The original game has grown
to be a one stop info source for the vessels of
the ACW.                The E-version is 85pages
For those without ship models.
To the side is one of the ship cards.
To save your ink the E-version's ships
have white backgrounds. 87 different
ships are provided on the cards. Due
to size Chapter 7 is not included in the
email version.
The game is design for all scales. Only four
rules are different for the larger models,
mainly distances.
There are several companies produced a
large number of the vessels. 1/600 is the
current favorite. Other lines are 1/1200 and
1/300.
Below are two of the 70 Event cards.
They are drawn randomly during the
game providing lots of surprises.
Ready to Play Scenarios.
The following scenarios include everything required to play except dice and measuring
devises. Standard 6 sided dice and a normal ruler will do nicely.
A short copy of BROWN WATER NAVIES rules, 10 Event cards, @8 ship cards and a
description of the battle are included. These are a great way to learn history, naval
tactics, or try a new game system without spending a lot of money. All scenarios are
set up to be close to history. Several scenarios only have the historical vessels. Most
scenarios are based on what should have or could have happened. All scenarios are
set up to be balanced. When southern casemates are able to meet northern monitors
one-on-one it's an even battle.
The ship cards can be replace with lead models.
Each scenario is $7.95. They will be sent via email as a PDF attachment.
They are @8meg each. Be sure your carrier and mail box can handle that
much. Each contents a history of the item, Chapter 1 rules, a sheet of
vessels and a sheet of event cards.
